The Stadium Drive Construction project was completed in late summer 2022. The project included a:
New culvert
Repaved roadway
Landscaped median (trees in 2023)
New shared use path & upgraded pedestrian signals
OVERVIEW
Stadium Drive was one of several streets transferred from MDOT to local control in 2019 (other major streets include Westnedge and Park). This year, it will become the first of these streets to be rebuilt for the needs of our community. Work to replace an aging culvert at Arcadia Creek is currently underway, which will pave the way for reconstruction of the street from Howard to Lovell starting on April 4th, 2022. It is scheduled to be completed in October.
Stadium Drive will be rebuilt with:
A landscaped median, separating travel directions with native grasses and trees
Pedestrian signals will be upgraded at all signalized intersections to be fully ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act (1990)) compliant, with push buttons and audible signals.
A shared use path will also be added on the north side of the street, connecting the path added to Howard Street (see image below) last year with existing path at Oliver Street. This segment will help connect WMU and K College and create a connection all the way from West Main Street at Drake Road to downtown.
Two-way traffic will be maintained throughout but will be shifted to one lane in each direction for portions of the work. See how / if this will affect the detouring for Parkview Avenue below.

HOW WILL THIS WORK AFFECT THE PARKVIEW AVENUE DETOUR?
Parkview Ave reconstruction work will be occurring during the Stadium Drive work. Two-way traffic will be maintained for most of the Stadium Drive project but will be reduced to one travel lane in both directions. This means the detour route for the Parkview Avenue project will still be maintained and useable throughout the entirety of the Stadium Drive project.
